Manhig's MessageShalom Chevre,It gives me great pleasure and pride to welcome you to HabonimReunited.com! For so many of us, Habonim was probably the principal formative influence in our lives. It shaped our values, our identities and our dreams and aspirations. It gave us analytical skills and people skills and helped us become leaders. I know many of us still look back at that time as the most exciting and important in our lives. For me it was the late 70's and early 80's during which time I met the most wonderful people, many of whom are still my closest friends today. Very few old-time chaverim have the privilege of still being involved, as I do, with the movement of today. Many of the issues, debates and challenges are the same and yet there are differences because society, Israel, South Africa and the Jewish world are all profoundly different. The madrichim today, are as motivated, as passionate and as impressive young people as ever before, still running vibrant tochniot and still attracting close on 1000 chevre to Machaneh each year. A prime difference between now and twenty years ago is the massive decline in community funding to Habonim which has placed incredible strain on the movement over the years. Finally we are righting the ship with the establishment of the Habonim Dror Foundation and the upgrade and renewal of the Habonim campsite. There is much money to be raised and work to be done in order for dreams to become reality. One hopes that HabonimReunited.com will stir within past chaverim the passion for Habonim that was such a part of our youth. I also see the wonderful possibility that through this website we will reconnect with old chaverim with whom we may have lost contact. Lastly, this website offers all of us the chance to come face to face with the Habonim of today. I feel that it is fitting that we launch this website in the 75th Anniversary year of Habonim. Take the time to sign up and spread the word to your friends! Aleh Vehagshem
